New Qualcomm Snapdragon processors revealed

Qualcomm on Wednesday officially announced its latest Snapdragon processors that it says will find their way into “high-performance and high-volume mobile devices.” The new chips include the Snapdragon 620, Snapdragon 618, Snapdragon 425 and Snapdragon 415 chips.
The Snapdragon 620 and Snapdragon 618 system-on-chips (SoC) are equipped with 64-bit ARM Cortex A-72 processors and a new X8 LTE modem. Qualcomm was also able to sneak in support for dual ISP camera, 4K video capture, HEVC hardware encoding, next-gen Adreno graphics and more, all of which are technologies that were previously reserved for the Snapdragon 800-series processors. Both chips also support QuickCharge 2.0, which means the smartphones they end up in should charge faster than some other devices.
The Snapdragon 425 and Snapdragon 415 feature octa-core CPUs; this is the first time that Snapdragon 400-series processors have been loaded with that kind of muscle. The Snapdragon 425′s X8 LTE modem will reportedly offer 2x the LTE download and upload capabilities compared to earlier Snapdragon 400-series chips, while the X5 LTE modem on the Snapdragon 415 provides up to 150Mbps download speeds over LTE networks.
Qualcomm said you can expect devices packed with its Snapdragon 415 processor during the first half of this year, while the Snapdragon 620, Snapdragon 618 and Snapdragon 425 processors will launch in the second half of 2015.
